ACCA Cymru Wales/CMI St David's Day Business Breakfast 2019
Please join us on Friday 1 March at the Hilton Cardiff at our business breakfast to celebrate St David's Day. The breakfast will begin at 7.30am with a bucks fizz reception and entertainment, followed by a full Welsh Breakfast and keynote address and will end at 9.00am.

Gary Thompson is a senior leader specialising in innovation, Full Fibre Networks and 5G. He has a strong commercial and technical background spanning 25 years covering a range of Multi-Million Innovation, Digital and Economic Development programmes.
For most of 2018 he has worked for Enterprise M3 LEP, a Local Enterprise Partnership in England. With the 5G Innovation Centre from the University of Surrey, he created a vision and strategy which will enable Enterprise M3 to become Europe’s first 5G Region.
His creative vision led to him developing the original business case "The Internet Coast" for the Swansea Bay City Region £1.3bn City Deal. He has worked as Chief Investment Officer for Liverpool City Region Combined Authority, and developed a vision and strategy for an International Internet Gateway and Multi-Terabit Fibre Spine for both Liverpool City Region and the Cardiff Capital Region.
In his early career with Marconi, he managed the development of telecommunications products, before moving to the North West Development Agency as Director of Liverpool Innovation Park.
He moved to South Wales in 2008, as Director, to establish the Institute of Advanced Broadcasting, with the Wesley Clover Corporation and Newport University, and led the development of Wales’s business case for the Digital Catapult leading a collaboration with over 30 partners, Newport’s £12m Super Connected Cities, The Works SMART Community as well as other developments.
He has extensive professional experience in Transatlantic Digital Networks and provided the owner of £1bn Hibernia Atlantic with the economic rationale to continue investment in this strategic digital asset in the North West of England.
He is excited about the transformative affect Full Fibre Networks and 5G will have on the development of new economies in Future Energy Systems, Health and Precision Medicine, Autonomous Vehicles, Advanced Manufacturing and other industries.
A keen Liverpool FC fan, he lives in Cardiff with his wife and daughter.
