Course Outline
Professionals who master the skills of effective communication gain a decisive edge in modern business – whether you’re presenting to clients, at interview or seeking to impress the executive board.

At this event you will have the opportunity to take your communication skills to a new level, working with two experts in their field – a public speaking coach and a consultant/copywriting expert.

Public Speaking
Whether we are talking in a team meeting or presenting in front of an audience, we all have to speak in public from time to time.

We can do this well or we can do this badly, and the outcome strongly affects the way that people think about us. This is why public speaking causes so much anxiety and concern.

This talk will provide you with strategies to become a better public speaker and presenter and will include:

• how to take the fear out of presenting
• how to become a more engaging speaker
• steps to deliver a persuasive talk.

Persuasive Writing
Writing is an essential communication skill and professionals in every walk of life will be assessed on their ability to convey information clearly in written form.

This talk will take delegates through some of the important skills needed to be an effective and persuasive written communicator.

The presentation will include:

• appreciating the needs of the audience
• what to leave out
• the importance of ‘tone’
• writing to communicate rather than to impress
• does perfect grammar matter?
• writing to persuade.

Speakers:
Celia Delaney MA (Oxon), The SpeakingSuccess Coach
Richard Hussey, Consultant and Copywriter, RSH Copywriting

After reading psychology at Oxford University, Celia Delaney gained a place as a graduate on Unilever’s management development scheme, which culminated in working as the personnel manager at one of their factory sites. She then went on to be an actress on stage and television for five years. She then combined all these skills to develop her training and speaking business.
Not content with speaking and training, she is also a jazz singer, and is working on her second book, entitled ‘The Secrets of Speaking Success.’ Her first novel, ‘The Sleep Lab’, languishes in a drawer, yet to be discovered. She is married and lives in Devon. http://www.celiadelaney.co.uk

After graduating from Imperial College, London with a BSC in Materials Science, Richard Hussey has pursued a varied career spanning engineering, publishing, IT, education and marketing. He is a firm believer in the power of the written word in helping organizations of all types to achieve their aims.
Richard started his copywriting and content marketing business three years ago and helps businesses build awareness, trust and sales through publishing engaging and persuasive written content.
