The seminar/ lecture is of relevance for trustees and financial managers in charities in particular. The format of the event will cover critically important aspects such as:

- Key attributes of Risk management and control

- Effective financial controls and the role of trustees and senior management therein

- Improving the financial literacy of the wider management team

- Considerations in achieving value for money in a good quality control environment

Helen Saxton
Helen has been actively involved in the third sector for over 10 years, and has been key to developing KTS Owens Thomas' specialist services to charities and not-for-profit clients. Helen provides technical and consultancy support to her clients and works closely with them to ensure the complex compliance issues are met. She also has a 360 degree view of such organisations as she is a board trustee and a member of the audit committee of Gofal. Helen has more recently appeared in the Guardian discussing the need for board diversification.

Carol Warburton
With some 24 years overall professional experience, Carol has considerable global and UK external and Internal Audit experience working on significant organisations such as Career Wales, Sport Wales, Care Council, Plaid Cymru, Y Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol, Bass Plc, Punch Taverns Plc, Next, Orange and British Airways. Carol is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and a registered auditor (Senior Statutory Auditor) under the Companies Act. She is also an affiliate member of the Chartered Institute of Internal Auditors, UK and Ireland and for the last two years has served in a voluntary capacity on the Welsh Committee of that body. Carol is presently the Vice President of the South Wales Society of Chartered Accountants. She has frequently presented at workshops across a variety of topics such as budgeting internal control, financial control, IFRS implementation, Value for Money Reviews, Corporate Governance, Accounting Technical Updates and Risk Management. She is also a Trustee of Victim Support Cymru.
